Scripture Union Daily Guide 28 November 2025 Outline

The prophet is a go-between God and His people. He delivers God’s warning against their sinful ways in the open but returns to his closet to cry out for God’s mercy. God’s people have refused to yield to the numerous warnings He sent through His servants. Instead, they have gone from bad to worse, surpassing even the pagan world in their idolatry. Consider the depth to which they have fallen (Jeremiah 7:18,30-31 cf. 2 Kings 21:7).

No wonder, God warns the prophet not to plead for His mercy (Jeremiah 7:16-17; cf. Exodus 32:10; Jeremiah 15:1). We should not continue in sin and expect God’s grace to abound (Romans 6:1). We must not be deceived to believe that the prayers of a prophet or our big offerings would change God’s mind or make Him overlook our wickedness (Jeremiah 7:21-23).

Notice the warnings contained in Jeremiah 7:32-34 ; Jeremiah 8:1-3? Note in Proverbs 29:1 the lesson(s) for those who persist in disobedience, who refuse correction and continue to take pride in their sin.
Like the Israelites (Jeremiah 7:25;26), the Lord has sent us many messengers with His word. He speaks to us as we meditate on His word each day. Shall we be like them who did not obey the Lord?
